The City of Alexandria invites community members to join a design kickoff open house for the Holmes Run Sanitary Sewer Armoring Project on Wednesday, October 21 from 6 to 7:45 p.m. at the William Ramsay Recreation Center (5650 Sanger Ave).

On Thursday, October 22 from 6 - 7 p.m. on Zoom, community members are invited to learn about an upcoming project that will construct a new multi-use trail along North Beauregard Street between Fillmore Avenue and Berkeley Street at a virtual pre-construction meeting hosted by the City of Alexandria’s project team

To prepare for the upcoming ordinance banning the use of gas-powered leaf blowers in the city, the Department of Transportation & Environmental Services invites you to an electric leaf blower demonstration on Tuesday, October 27 from 2-6 p.m. at Ben Brenman Park near Somervelle Street and Deer Run Court.

A safer, more connected West End is on the way – and we want to share a look at what’s ahead! Community members are invited to join the City of Alexandria for an open house covering the project status and timelines on several transportation improvement projects coming to the West End at the Minnie Howard Campus on Thursday, October 29 from 5-8 p.m.

The Urban Design Advisory Committee (UDAC) serving Old Town North will meet for its annual walking tour of Old Town North on Wednesday, November 4, at 9 a.m. in the public area outside of The Perfect Pita (951 North Fairfax Street). The walking tour will include several developments in the Old Town North area. City staff will engage with UDAC members and the public with information about each site.

The City of Alexandria is seeking community input on potential improvements to seven high-crash intersections in the city’s West End. Complete the online feedback form by Friday, November 6 or stop by the West End Transportation Open House.

The City is now sharing refined design options developed in response to earlier community input to help inform a preferred design for Seminary Road between George Mason Drive and North Beauregard Street. Attend a Virtual Community Meeting or complete the online feedback form by November 6.

If you missed the Plan Release meeting on September 29th, all meeting materials are posted on our webpage, including the recording, the presentation, and the Q&A. Public Comment is encouraged and will be open through November 13.

The current City Hall, built in 1871, is a great source of community pride and serves as a workplace for more than 300 City employees. After many years of service, major updates are needed throughout City Hall to repair aging building components, improve operating systems, optimize space utilization, improve building circulation and wayfinding, enhance security, and facilitate community engagement. 

Any Alexandria community member can sign up for workgroups for Landmark/Van Dorn, Arlandria, or Citywide Mental Wellness on the Community Health Improvement Plan website. The time commitment is a few hours a month, and groups meet in person and online.
