Adult Mental Health, Alcohol and Drug Treatment, and Developmental Disabilities Hub

Recovery programs and services for people experiencing mental health challenges including anxiety, depression, post traumatic stress (PTSD) and severe mental illness including psychosis, major depression, bipolar disorder, personality disorders and schizophrenia, as well as individuals with autism, Down's Syndrome, developmental disabilities and intellectual disabilities and those with substance use dependencies including use of alcohol, opioids and other drugs and co-occurring disorders.

Developmental Disability Services

DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITY SERVICES
Person-centered services are offered to enable individuals to successfully live in the community as independently as possible with the necessary supports. These services are for residents of the City of Alexandria with a diagnosis of developmental disability.  

Adult Mental Health Services

24-HOUR EMERGENCY MENTAL HEALTH SERVICES
This service provides 24-hour intervention for persons experiencing a mental health or substance use disorder related crisis. Licensed clinicians evaluate mental health and substance use disorder problems and provide help as needed via phone or in person.

ADULT MENTAL HEALTH OUTPATIENT
Services include individual, group and family counseling; psychiatric evaluation and medication management; and case management to help access and coordinate services.  Information is available about mental health and substance use treatment support groups.

COMPREHENSIVE RECOVERY TEAM
The Comprehensive Recovery Team provides clinical case management and recovery coaching services to assist individuals with mental illness and their family members access needed services that are responsive to the person’s individual needs and preferences.

SUPPORTED EMPLOYMENT AND EDUCATION PROGRAM
The Supported Employment and Education Program (SEEP) provides vocational services to eligible clients of all Alexandria CSB programs who wish to pursue employment.

SAFE HAVEN
Safe Haven provides transitional housing and intensive support services for individuals experiencing chronic homelessness with mental illness and/or other disabling conditions, who are often street homeless and cannot or do not use existing shelters.

TRAILS
Transitioning Adults into Living Successfully (TRAILS) provides early and effective treatment for adolescents and young adults who have recently experienced their first episode of psychosis or symptoms of psychosis.

PACT
The goal of the Program of Assertive Community Treatment (PACT) is recovery. The program promotes individual empowerment through the acquisition of resources and skills that help individuals with severe mental illness manage symptoms including substance use disorders to reach an increased level of independence in the community.

WEST END WELLNESS CENTER
The West end Wellness Center assists individuals with serious mental illness in achieving personal, social and vocational competency, while promoting mental health recovery and physical wellness.

MENTAL HEALTH RESIDENTIAL SERVICES
This service provides permanent or transitional living arrangements, support, supervision and training for persons with severe mental illness and/or co-occurring substance use disorders in a home-like environment that promotes personal growth, respect, recovery and hope.

SERVICES FOR SERVICE MEMBERS, VETERANS, AND THEIR FAMILIES
These services were designed specifically to assist service members, veterans, and their families in connecting with behavioral healthcare services for individuals experiencing major depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, physical abuse, substance use disorders, homelessness, and more. 

Adult Substance Use Treatment Services

SUBSTANCE USE TREATMENT OUTPATIENT SERVICES
A variety of programs are available to tailor treatment to the person’s stage of change in relation to alcohol and drugs and personal preferences. The program offers a range of services including group, individual and family counseling and education; psychiatric care; transitional housing for those desiring a more structured environment in early recovery; case management and testing for HIV, tuberculosis and hepatitis.

OPIOID TREATMENT PROGRAM
This program helps adults stop using heroin and/or other opioids that may include legal medications that are used illegally. Clients participate in regular counseling sessions and are required to abstain from illegal drugs and alcohol while in the program.

MENTAL HEALTH AND SUBSTANCE USE TREATMENT RESIDENTIAL SERVICES
his service provides permanent or transitional living arrangements, support, supervision and training for persons with severe mental illness and/or co-occurring substance use disorders in a home-like environment that promotes personal growth, respect, recovery and hope.

SUBSTANCE USE DETOX AND TREATMENT
The
City of Alexandria and Arlington County contract National Capital Treatment & Recovery to provide Detox Services for individuals in need of support in a residential setting during withdrawal from alcohol or other drugs and transition to recovery. Call 703.746.3636 for 24-hour assistance and detoxification services.
