Alexandria Health Department (AHD) is moving to a new office. Beginning in March 2023, AHD will be located at the new Redella S. Del Pepper Community Center at 4850 Mark Center Drive, Alexandria, VA 22311.

Schedule
AHD will discontinue service at 4480 King Street in March 2023 and stop providing on-site services at that location. A specific closure date and any changes to the time frame will be shared on this website.
AHD will begin moving into its new office at 4850 Mark Center Drive within a week of the King Street closure and take the actions needed to begin resuming clinical services.

Location
Beginning March 2023, AHD will be located at the new Redella S. Del Pepper Community Center at 4850 Mark Center Drive, Alexandria, VA 22311. AHD will have offices on floors 3 and 4 and will be located nearby other Alexandria health and social services in the Redella S. Del Pepper Community Center.
The building is located on the West End of the City off I-95, Seminary Road and Beauregard Street. More information on accessing the Mark Center by car, bus, train or other methods can be found here.
Notably, the Mark Center is a five-minute walk from the Mark Center Transit Station and can be accessed through routes on the MetroBus and the free DASH Bus. Some DASH routes to the Mark Center Transit Center are featured in the table below:

Why is AHD moving?
AHD is moving with several other health and community service providers into this new Mark Center location, which will be called the Redella S. Del Pepper Community Center. Currently, health and community services are provided across many sites in the City. This new centralized location will benefit residents and clients by creating a “one-stop shop” for health and community clients with seamless transition between related services.
This unified setting also aims to ensure increased access, equity, collaboration, privacy, and safety for all residents who use the facility. It will serve as a community hub offering opportunities to access resources, convene meetings and events and to promote the health and wellbeing of Alexandrians.
Finally, new, updated offices will provide a safe, inviting space for AHD to serve clients and advance our mission of “Healthy People, Healthier Communities.”
I have an appointment scheduled during or after March 2023. What should I do?
AHD will not provide appointments at 4480 King Street during or after the move. AHD will contact individuals about impacted appointments. If you have questions, please call the appointment line at (703) 746-4888 before March 2023.

I need to connect with WIC services for an appointment or questions. Will this impact me?
AHD'S Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program services are available by appointment only. During the move, AHD will continue to provide WIC appointments during normal business hours over the phone. If you have questions, please call our main phone line: (703) 746-4998.
Will AHD’s other locations be impacted?
During the move, AHD’s other locations including the Teen Wellness Center and Casey Health Clinic will continue to operate during normal business hours.

How will AHD’s move impact my pool inspection?
AHD’s Environmental Health department has not announced any changes to the planning and scheduling of pool inspections due to the move. Alexandria residents or businesses in need of a pool inspection should look out for communications from the Environmental Health department regarding 2023 pool inspection requirements and due dates.

I need to file a permit inspection this spring. What should I do?
AHD will be temporarily unable to accept permit renewals/new applications, or submissions for new plans during the move. We ask that you plan accordingly. Reviews of submissions prior to the move will continue as normal.

What should I do if I need vital records services during the move?
Virginia residents can request vital records online using this application from the Virginia Department of Health.
Walk-in services are also available at other Virginia Department of Health vital records service locations. A map of available locations providing walk-in services is available online.
How will AHD keep my health records safe during the move?
AHD is following appropriate guidance to ensure the safekeeping of health records during the move, with staff members ensuring health records safety before, during and after the move.
