Inmate in green uniform that says Prisoner on the back speaking with two members of the Workforce Development team at the Reentry Resource Fair

The journey home just got a little smoother for dozens of residents at the Adult Detention Center. On April 23, in recognition of Second Chance Month, our Inmate Services team hosted the annual Reentry Resource Fair. This event helps prepare our residents for successful new beginnings resulting in a stronger, safer community.

Having support from beyond the jail is critical for successful reintegration and to ensure our residents have those connections, we brought together 29 community partners. Residents spent the afternoon actively engaging with experts to explore resources and build plans for their future.

The fair focused on key areas of stability, including:

• Health: Access to medical and wellness resources
• Housing: A safe and accessible place to live and restore family connections
• Education: Opportunities to bridge the gap in learning.
• Job Training: Developing the skill sets local employers need.
• Employment Assistance: Direct lines to job placement and resume help.
• Peer Support: Connecting with networks of people who understand the journey.
• Justice: Linking with legal resources and community-based supervision.

“Our goal is to equip individuals with the tools and connections they need to have their best shot at a second chance,” said Sheriff Sean Casey.

Events like these underscore Sheriff Sean Casey’s ongoing mission to reduce recidivism. By fostering these vital community connections, the Sheriff’s Office is helping returning citizens build brighter futures and improve our community.
