Introduction
The Alexandria Sheriff’s Office provides reasonable and required access and accommodation for people with disabilities who are visiting our facility and those who are in custody.
To ensure our team is up to date on best practices for disability inclusion and accessibility, all ASO employees complete annual training from Visitable. Our current Visitable Advocate Certification is valid through September 2026.

What if I need assistance or accommodation to visit the facility?
If you require assistance or accommodation due to a disability, please contact us in advance at 703.746.4099, Virginia Relay 711. This will help us make the necessary arrangements to ensure your visit is safe and accessible.
What types of accommodations are available?
We can provide a variety of accessibility and auxiliary aids, including but not limited to:
- Wheelchair access (elevators, ramps, automatic doors)
- Tablet-based ASL translation services
- UbiDuo devices for real-time text communication
- Accessible restrooms
Do I need to provide documentation about my disability?
No. You are not required to provide medical records or documentation. Simply let us know what accommodation you need so that we can assist you.
How far in advance should I request an accommodation?
We recommend calling at least 48 hours before your visit to allow time to coordinate services. However, we will make every effort to accommodate requests even if made on the day of the visit.
