Keeping our children safe is a top priority, and the Sheriff's Office is now offering a new service to help parents and children. Deputies will create free photo identification cards for children at select community events throughout Alexandria, including this summer’s Community Cookouts. These cards include a recent photograph of a child, along with essential personal information parents provide and a digital fingerprint. The service is designed to give parents an extra measure of security and peace of mind.

In the event of an emergency, such as a child being separated from their parent or other caregiver, this photo ID card can be an invaluable tool. The clear, color photograph and identifying details can help law enforcement and other first responders in their efforts to locate and reunite the child with their family. Sheriff Sean Casey encourages parents and guardians in Alexandria to take advantage of this free service.

The Sheriff’s Office appreciates the support of Dominion Energy in helping to fund to this public safety program. For helpful child safety information, please visit kidsmartz.org.
