Project Description

The purpose of this project is to implement traffic calming measures to reduce driving speeds and improve safety for all people who drive, walk, bike, and take the bus in Parkfairfax.

Project Background

This project is part of the was selected as part of the City's resident-driven traffic calming program to provide street improvements that make it easier and safer for people to travel by foot, bike, or car in Alexandria neighborhoods. 

The traffic calming program process was updated after this project was selected. Visit the program website for the Neighborhood Transportation Improvements Program (NTIP) to learn more about the City's new program.

At its February 2025 meeting, the Traffic & Parking Board reviewed the Parkfairfax Traffic Calming Project. The Board approved two key changes: removing parking spaces at three locations and installing one new stop sign. Presentation and memo are available at the Traffic & Parking Board webpage.
