The Fare-Free Metrobus Program is a four-year initiative to provide fare-free WMATA Metrobus access to Alexandria City Public Schools (ACPS) middle and high school students. 

The program is designed to: 

• Remove transportation cost barriers 
• Improve equitable access to school, employment, and extracurricular activities 
• Support student independence and transit literacy 
• Reduce household transportation costs 
• Advance City mobility, climate, and congestion goals 

This program operates under Virginia’s Transit Ridership Incentive Program (TRIP) step-down funding model.
