Recertification Process
The City of Alexandria requires that everyone with a disability parking space re-certify each year whether he or she still needs the space, and if so, continues to meet the eligibility criteria of the program. The City also requires that everyone who received a Block Face Limit Waiver re-apply each year for the waiver.
On November 1 of each year, the City will reach out directly to residents who are actively using a disability parking space on a residential street that they have applied for in the past. To re-certify, the resident must then submit by December 1 all four of the following:
- The completed recertification form
- The Block Face Limit Waiver reapplication
- A photo or copy of their valid, nonexpired Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) disability parking license plate or placard
- A photo or copy of their valid, nonexpired Vehicle Registration matching the name and street address on the recertification form
Once submitted and reviewed, the City will then reach back to out to each resident to confirm whether or not the recertification was approved with next steps, if applicable.
