Five Deputies Recognized at Public Safety Valor Awards
Captain Dave Cutting, Sergeant Victor Ignacio, Sergeant Brian Wade, Master Deputy Hafsa Munir and Deputy Joseph Walker were recognized by the Chamber of Commerce at the annual Public Safety Valor Awards on June 1.
The program at the National Industries for the Blind opened with the combined public honor guard presenting the colors and Deputy Jacquelyn Olson singing the national anthem. Aaron Gilchrist of NBC News served as an emcee and narrator, describing the incidents and honorees’ actions while agency officials presented the awards.
Sheriff Sean Casey congratulated each of the deputies as they received life-saving awards for successful interventions with individuals who were in crisis and in danger of self-harm. Members of the Police Department, Fire Department and Department of Emergency and Customer Communications also received awards for handling other critical situations.
Sheriff Casey and the Sheriff’s Office staff thank the Chamber, sponsors and business community for their support of the Valor Awards and Alexandria’s public safety agencies. Additional details are available in the printed program.
