Old Dominion Boulevard Bicycle Improvements Project
Project Description
The City of Alexandria is exploring improvements to make it easier and safer for people to bike on Old Dominion Boulevard between Four Mile Road and West Glebe Road. These improvements were identified by the Alexandria Mobility Plan. This bicycle infrastructure would connect to existing bike lanes on Old Dominion Boulevard south of Glebe Road and provide improved access to region's trail network via Four Mile Road to the Four Mile Run Trail.
This project is expected to have no impact on existing parking.
Bicycle Improvements
Bicycle improvements on Old Dominion Boulevard may include shared-travel lane markings (sharrows), bike lanes, and a contra-flow bike lane. The graphic below shows how these bicycle improvements can be laid out with existing travel lanes and parking at three locations along the project corridor. No parking will be impacted by the addition of these improvements.
