Project Background

Metro Road is a 4-5 lane street which connects Eisenhower Avenue to S. Van Dorn Street and serves the Summers Grove Community, Metro Kiss & Ride, Metro Park & Ride, and the Savage Services/Alexandria TBT property (Norfolk Southern). The road does not contain any true cross-streets, but the Summer’s Grove community and Metro lots are accessible from Pearson Lane and Summers Grove Road.

In order to address concerns from residents, City staff are evaluating potential solutions including the reduction of speed limits, improving pedestrian crossings, increasing sight distances, repaving and restriping, and installing traffic calming systems.
