deputy receives award from sheriff and academy director

Fifteen deputy sheriffs graduated from the Northern Virginia Criminal Justice Training Academy on June 16. Sheriff Sean Casey and members of his command and training staff attended Session 148’s graduation ceremony at Cornerstone Church in Leesburg.

Congratulations to Deputy Anwar Bowman, Deputy Erica Eugene, Deputy Japaulus Hall, Deputy Gambo Ibrahim, Deputy Ehsan Khan, Deputy Derek Mainville, Deputy Jacqueline Perez-Carrillo, Deputy Shandra Redfearn, Deputy Corey Reiner, Deputy Ashonti Rice, Deputy Marc Rosario, Deputy Daniyal Sran, Deputy Gregory Stillman, Deputy Joshua Storella, and Deputy Jessica Tarius.

Deputy Mainville was among the graduates recognized for distinguished achievement, earning the Director’s Award for Academic Excellence for the highest overall score in the combined law enforcement and deputy school (above right). Deputy Mainville also tied for the second highest score on the emergency vehicle operations course and finished third in the physical fitness category among male recruits.

Deputy Stillman was part of the honor guard that presented the colors during the graduation ceremony.

These new law enforcement officers successfully completed 20 weeks of training, including emergency vehicle operations, firearms training, defensive and control tactics, crash investigation, de-escalation techniques, basic legal training, jail operations, courthouse security and civil process.

The graduates will continue in field training at the Sheriff’s Office before beginning their regular assignments.
