Sheriff Sean Casey graduated from a week-long professional development program with the National Sheriffs’ Institute (NSI). He and 28 other sheriffs from across the country participated in Session 122 of NSI’s Leadership Development Course which was held May 6 to 10, 2024, at the FBI Academy in Quantico.

NSI’s executive leadership training is specifically designed for first-term sheriffs and developing effective leadership in their own offices, the local criminal justice system, and their community. NSI is offered at no cost to localities and is conducted by the National Institute of Corrections, a U.S. Department of Justice agency, in collaboration with the Major County Sheriffs of America.

The course covered critical subjects like leadership during conflict and crisis, building and maintaining professional ethics, community engagement, organizational communications, developing external partnerships, and other key topics.

Sheriff Casey previously completed the Senior Management Institute for Police conducted by the Police Executive Research Forum in 2023 and the Leadership in Police Organizations program with the International Association of Chiefs of Police in 2019. In 2020, he earned his Certified Public Management designation from The George Washington University through the Institute for Regional Excellence.
