Sheriff Sean Casey and the Alexandria Sheriff’s Office celebrated staff accomplishments with an employee awards ceremony on April 21. Several community leaders and family members attended the program, which honored employees who were selected by their colleagues for recognition and included a special presentation by the American Legion Alexandria Post 24.

Captain Quentin Wade emceed the ceremony, which began with the Combined Public Safety Honor Guard presenting the colors, Charles Davis from the Department of Human Resources singing the national anthem, and Master Deputy Stubblefield providing the invocation. Dwayne Crawford, Executive Director of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives (NOBLE), delivered the keynote speech in which he applauded the accomplishments of the Sheriff’s Office and our honorees while also emphasizing the importance of justice by action.

Following those remarks, Donna Reuss, 2nd Vice-Commander of Alexandria Post 24 and Chair of the Homeland Security Support Committee, presented the first award recognizing Deputy Cromer as Post 24's 2025 Law Enforcement Officer of the Year. Deputy Cromer’s commander nominated him for exemplifying our Office’s values of integrity, respect, professionalism and unity, and specifically for his significant impact in keeping staff and inmates safe through his exceptional de-escalation skills. The nomination also highlighted his work as a Field Training Deputy and member of the Crisis Intervention Team and Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team.

Then ASO colleagues announced the winners as Sheriff Casey presented the following awards:

Unit Spirit – Security Team 2A
Best Idea – Master Deputy Wooden

Sheriff Casey provided brief closing remarks, congratulating the honorees and thanking the guest speaker for his keynote, family members and friends for their support, and awards committee members and others who helped make the event a success.
