The Sheriff’s Office celebrated the achievements of 11 sworn deputies who earned promotions in 2025 with a recognition ceremony on December 9. Family members and friends of the honorees attended the event as did many colleagues.

Lieutenant Jessup emceed the ceremony which began with the presentation of the colors by the Combined Public Honor Guard. Charles Davis of the Department of Human Resources sang the national anthem and Master Deputy Stubblefield delivered the invocation. Lieutenant Jessup provided opening remarks and read the names of all deputies who had earned elevations within the deputy rank during the past year.

Then members of the program committee announced the promotions by reading introductions and acknowledgements on behalf of each honoree. Many recognized current and retired supervisors and commanders who influenced their professional development and several thanked their family members for their support. After the introductions, Sheriff Sean Casey presented each honoree with a certificate.

The following deputies were recognized:

•    Sergeant Asonglefac, Sergeant Battle, Sergeant Greene, and Sergeant Schrinel
•    Lieutenant Amponsem, Lieutenant Hagar, and Lieutenant Wade
•    Captain Harding, Captain Houston, and Captain Moss
•    Chief Deputy Plaskus

As the highest-ranking promotee, Chief Deputy Plaskus addressed the audience and spoke on behalf of her fellow honorees. In her remarks, Chief Plaskus thanked Sheriff Casey, family members and colleagues, and emphasized the Office’s core values of professionalism, integrity, respect, and unity. She also said that it is a privilege to lead. “We understand that promotion does not make us better than anyone else. It makes us more responsible for everyone else,” Chief Plaskus said. “We will work to be leaders who listen, who are present, who are consistent, and who will improve the culture of this agency.”

Greg Parks, Clerk of the Alexandria Circuit Court, then administered the oaths of office according to their rank.

Sheriff Casey provided brief closing remarks in which he thanked staff involved in coordinating the ceremony and family members of the honorees who have supported their loved ones. He also congratulated all the promotees and expressed his appreciation for their commitment.

Following the program, honorees and guests enjoyed refreshments and taking photos with family, friends and colleagues.
