Sheriff’s Office Supports Multi-Organization Vaccine Outreach Efforts
To help spread the word about the importance of COVID-19 vaccines, members of the Sheriff’s Office have been teaming up with our community and public safety partners to inform residents across Alexandria.
Michael Johnson of the Department of Recreation, Parks and Cultural Activities has been coordinating the combined efforts of dedicated community members as well as City staff to go door-to-door and share information about vaccinations.
In addition to Recreation and the Sheriff’s Office, this multi-organization initiative includes members of the Social Responsibility Group, Neighborhood Health, My Father’s House Church, Landmark Church, Alexandria Health Department, Alexandria Redevelopment and Housing Authority, Alexandria Police Department and Alexandria Fire Department.
Since early March, team members have visited neighborhoods throughout Alexandria, from Old Town to Arlandria to the West End, and handed out information in several languages with facts about the COVID-19 vaccines and ways people can protect themselves from COVID-19. Team members have also distributed masks and even registered people for vaccination appointments.
