On July 28, 2021, representatives from the George Washington Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution presented awards to Master Deputy Joseph Runquist and Deputy Sean Williams.

John Blair, the Chapter’s Public Safety Awards Chair, and Tom Roth, the Chapter’s Historian, first recognized Deputy Williams with the Life Saving Award for his rescue of a suicidal inmate in 2020. Then they presented Deputy Runquist with the Bronze Good Citizenship Medal for his contributions to the Sheriff’s Office and the community. These include serving on the Honor Guard and Motor Unit in addition to his regular duties, training deputies in patrol procedures and defensive tactics, mentoring students, and remaining vigilant and quickly responding in life-threatening emergencies, even when off-duty.

Undersheriff Tim Gleeson thanked Mr. Blair and Mr. Roth for the SAR’s continued support and recognition of law enforcement.
