The Ballroom set for an event

Two rooms are available for rent at Gadsby's Tavern Museum: the Assembly Room, located in the c. 1785 tavern, and the historic 18th century Ballroom, located in the 1792 City Tavern building. All rentals require a non-refundable deposit to reserve a date.

Included in the rental fee:

  • 4' round tables (12)
  • 6' banquet tables (10)
  • White folding chairs (120)
  • Hurricane lamps, brass candlesticks, & ivory candles
  • Museum staff time to clean-up

*Table linens are not included as part of rentals.

Weddings and Special Events

Gadsby's Tavern Museum is an ideal site for all of your special event from, from wedding ceremonies and receptions to cocktail parties and holiday gatherings.

Rates:

  • Ballroom only: $500 per hour, minimum of three hours; wedding receptions minimum of six hours.
  • Ballroom and Assembly Room: $1,000 per hour, same minimums apply.
  • Alcohol Liability Fee: $50
  • Room Reset Fee: $175 (for example, resetting a room from wedding ceremony to reception during the event)

Meetings and Professional Events

George Washington held meetings at Gadsby's Tavern Museum and now you can too!

Plan a meeting at the Museum and enjoy the flexibility of our space with seating arrangements to meet your needs. Have a boxed lunch delivered or enjoy the convenience of dining at Gadsby's Tavern Restaurant.

Rates:

  • Meeting, seminars, or workshops with food served in the museum space (min 2 hours): $200 per hour
    *Discounts are available for all day meetings
  • Meetings, seminars, or workshops with no food served (min 2 hours): $150 per hour
  • Alcohol Liability Fee: $50
  • Use of Projector System: $50

Tavern Gifts

Need a wedding favor, corporate gift or just a thank you? Gadsby's offers a wide variety of products from note-cards to tavern wares as a special souvenir for your guests. Discounts are available on purchases of large quantities. Contact the Rental Coordinator for more information.

Additional Information

The following information will help you plan your event and ensure the preservation of our historic site.

  • Preferred Vendor list
  • Alcoholic Beverages: In line with other City facilities, there is a non-refundable $50 fee for events serving alcoholic beverages. Appropriate ABC permits are required for serving alcoholic beverages; visit  VABC for more information.

 

Accessibility

All rental spaces are on the second floor. The Museum is not wheelchair accessible above the ground floor. Public restrooms are located on the third floor. The City of Alexandria offers accessible rental spaces at other City-owned sites. Please visit Historic Alexandria's rentals page for a complete list of our historic property rentals.
